Getting lost in the desert is the spiritual path.
The desert is symbolic of the spiritual journey.
The desert seems infinite. Never-ending. There are always numerous paths to take, rarely any of which are straightforward.
Just like the spiritual path, the desert has bumps in the road and elements in the environment that can make things uncomfortable.
There’s the suffocating heat.
The rugged terrain.
You’re alone with no one around, which feels like for miles.
So, imagine being lost in a desert all by yourself. You’re trying to get back home — but don’t know which way to go or which path to take.
You’re out of water, exhausted, and ready to give up.
Yet, there’s beauty all around you: a gorgeous, magnificent, vast desert landscape.
Would you notice it?
Would you take the time to marvel at the beauty: the imposing mountains rising in the distance, encasing nature’s handiwork?
Would you become aware of the neutral colors? The texture of the sand? The accents of deep greens and the various desert…
